Understanding Klaviyo previews when exporting Zaymo email templates
Last updated: May 19, 2026
When you export interactive email templates from Zaymo to Klaviyo, you may notice that Klaviyo's preview thumbnails and previews show a simplified version of your email rather than the interactive content. This is expected behavior and not an indication of a problem with your template.
Why Klaviyo shows non-interactive content in previews
Klaviyo's preview system cannot display interactive email content in thumbnails or previews. Instead, it shows the non-interactive "magic link" version of your email. You'll see a banner notification in Klaviyo stating "The interactive version of this email won't show in Klaviyo previews."
When viewing your exported Zaymo template in Klaviyo's interface, you’ll see an “AMP” tag displayed alongside your template. This tag indicates that the interactive Zaymo elements are present in the template and is expected behavior for all Zaymo templates. The presence of this AMP tag confirms that your export was successful and that the interactive functionality is properly embedded, even though Klaviyo’s preview system cannot display the interactive content.
This magic link content is what recipients will see if their email client doesn't support interactive features, ensuring your message still reaches all subscribers effectively.
Re-exporting templates after changes
Templates do not automatically update in Klaviyo when you make changes in Zaymo. After making any edits to your template:
Re-export the template from Zaymo
Replace the email in your Klaviyo flow with the newly exported version
You do not need to clone the template to re-export it - simply export the updated version and insert it into your flow.
Best practices for previewing your emails
To properly preview your interactive email content:
Use Zaymo's preview functionality to see how the interactive version will appear to recipients
Understand that different views show different versions: The Zaymo platform shows your interactive version, Klaviyo's template editor and preview show the fallback version, and actual sent emails display the interactive version (for supported clients) or fallback version (for unsupported clients). This is expected behavior, not an error.
Send test emails from Klaivyo to actual email addresses to preview both the interactive functionality and your customized fallback text
Don't rely on Klaviyo's preview thumbnails as they only show the fallback version
Remember that when your email is sent to recipients, those with email clients that support interactive content will see the full interactive experience, while others will see your customized fallback version. Both versions will function properly for their intended audiences.
FAQ:
Why is the email preview showing "Go to checkout" when my CTA says something else?
Previews display the "Go to checkout" button for customers without an active subscription or with an expired payment method. Clicking this button directs them straight to checkout with the product added to their cart
To customize this text, update the copy in the right panel by selecting the product block
