Exporting from the classic builder (and Iterable)

Last updated: October 5, 2026

This guide covers exporting from Zaymo's classic builder. Most Klaviyo accounts use the newer builder instead, where emails sync to Klaviyo on their own with no export step. If that's you, see How to export an interactive email to Klaviyo.

Am I on the classic builder?

You're on the classic builder if:

  • You use Iterable. Iterable accounts always use the classic builder.

  • Or you clicked "Use classic UI". You'll see a Use new UI link near the top of the app. Click it to switch back.

You can also tell by the button in the top right of the builder. The classic builder has one button, Preview / export.

Steps

1. Open the export wizard

Click Preview / export in the top right of the builder. Check how your email looks in the Gmail, Apple Mail, and Others (non-interactive) tabs, then click Continue to export wizard.

2. Fill in the details

  • Template name - the name your template will have in Klaviyo (or Iterable)

  • Preview text - the line shown next to the subject in the inbox. You won't be able to edit this in Klaviyo afterward, so set it here.

  • This email will be sent as a campaign - check this if it's for a campaign rather than a flow

3. Choose your settings

  • Export as Zaymo A/B test (Klaviyo only) - splits recipients 50/50 between your interactive email and the original from Klaviyo, so you can compare results on Zaymo's Analytics page. Don't use it on an email that's also in a Klaviyo A/B split: if you do, the interactive version only reaches 25% of recipients.

  • Edit in Klaviyo (Klaviyo only) - exports the email in Klaviyo's drag-and-drop format, so you can change copy and images in Klaviyo later. See Editing a Zaymo email directly in Klaviyo.

Click Export.

4. Put it to use

  • If you converted the email from a flow, the last step offers to replace the email in that flow for you.

  • Otherwise, the template is now in your Klaviyo template library. Click See it in Klaviyo and add it to any flow or campaign.

Iterable: one extra step

Iterable can't receive the interactive (AMP) part of the email through its API, so after you export, Zaymo shows you the AMP content to paste in yourself:

  1. Click the copy button to copy the AMP content.

  2. In Iterable, open the template and paste it into the AMP for Email HTML tab.

  3. Save the template in Iterable.

Re-exporting from Zaymo later keeps your pasted AMP in place. Iterable doesn't support Zaymo A/B tests. For setup and AMP approval, see Iterable.

Making changes later

The classic builder doesn't sync on its own. After you change the email in Zaymo, export it again to update it in Klaviyo or Iterable.
