Connect Slack and Zaymo can do two things in your workspace: post your reports and charts to a channel on a repeating schedule, and answer questions when you mention @Zaymo in a channel.
You connect Slack once per organization/brand, from the Integrations page. Everyone in your workspace shares that one connection, so your teammates don't need to connect anything themselves.
Prerequisites
A Zaymo account with access to the Integrations page
Permission to add apps to your Slack workspace. If your workspace restricts app installs, a Slack admin will need to approve the request before the connection completes.
At least one report or pinned chart, if you want scheduled deliveries. See .
Connecting Slack
In Zaymo, go to Integrations and find the Slack card.
Click Connect. You'll be sent to Slack's approval screen, which lists what Zaymo is asking for.
Choose your workspace and click Allow. Slack sends you back to the Integrations page, where the Slack card now reads Connected to [your workspace].
Pick a default channel. This is where deliveries go when a schedule doesn't name a channel of its own.
That's the whole setup. You don't have to invite anyone, and no one else has to repeat these steps.
What Zaymo asks for
Slack shows you the permissions on the approval screen. In plain terms, Zaymo can:
Post messages to the channels you pick
List your channels, so you can pick one
Read messages that mention @Zaymo, plus the name and email of whoever sent them
Zaymo does not read your other Slack messages.
Choosing a default channel
Open the Slack card on the Integrations page and pick a channel from the dropdown. It saves as soon as you choose, and you'll see a "Default channel updated" confirmation.
The list includes both public and private channels. Two things to know:
Public channels work right away. Zaymo adds itself to the channel the first time it posts.
Private channels need an invite first. In the channel, type
/invite @Zaymo. Without that, Zaymo can see the channel in the list but can't post to it.
Sending a report or chart to Slack on a schedule
Open a report, or a single pinned chart.
Click the Share button.
Under Scheduled deliveries, stay on the Slack tab.
Pick a Channel, or leave it on the default option so this delivery follows whatever your brand's default channel is at the time it sends.
Choose a Frequency - Daily, Weekly, or Monthly on the 1st - and a time. The time uses your own timezone, so 9am means 9am where you are.
Click Add. Zaymo confirms the first delivery time.
You can add more than one delivery to the same report, so the same weekly report can go to two different channels, or to a channel and an email list.
Managing your deliveries
Open the Reports tab and click Scheduled deliveries in the top right to see every schedule in one place. From there you can:
Send now, to fire a delivery immediately without waiting for the schedule
Pause or resume a schedule
Change where it goes, including switching it from Slack to email or back
Delete it
A schedule showing a warning badge failed its last send. The usual cause is a channel Zaymo was removed from, a private channel it was never invited to, or an archived channel.
You can also manage schedules from Slack itself. Click Zaymo in your Slack sidebar and open the Home tab to see your scheduled deliveries with Pause, Resume, and Delete buttons. Creating a new delivery still happens in Zaymo.
Asking Zaymo questions in Slack
In any channel Zaymo is in, mention it with your question:
@Zaymo how did revenue trend last week?
Zaymo replies in a thread, and you can keep asking follow-ups in that same thread. It's the same assistant as in the app, working from the same data.
A few things worth knowing:
It only works with an @mention in a channel. Direct messages to the app aren't answered.
Anyone in the channel can ask, whether or not they have a Zaymo login. Answers cover your brand's whole data set, not just what that individual would see in the app. So put Zaymo in channels where your team is fine seeing your full numbers.
Zaymo matches you by email. If the email on your Slack profile matches your Zaymo account, answers are attributed to you, and your conversation history lines up with what you see in the app.
There's an hourly cap of 30 questions per brand, to keep costs predictable. If you hit it, Zaymo says so and the cap resets within the hour.
If you manage more than one brand
Each Zaymo brand connects to Slack on its own, even when they all live in the same Slack workspace. Connect from each brand's Integrations page in turn.
Each brand needs its own default channel. If you try to reuse one, you'll see:
That channel is already the default for another brand in this workspace.
Pick a different channel for that brand. Individual schedules can still point anywhere you like, this only applies to the default.
Disconnecting Slack
On the Integrations page, open the Slack card and choose Disconnect. Zaymo confirms first.
After disconnecting, any schedules set to deliver to Slack stop sending. They aren't deleted, so reconnecting the same workspace brings them back. Email deliveries are unaffected.
If you reconnect to a different Slack workspace, your saved channels are cleared, since channel names don't carry across workspaces. You'll be asked to pick a new default channel, and any schedule that named a specific channel falls back to that default until you update it.
Troubleshooting
Zaymo isn't posting to a private channel. Type /invite @Zaymo in that channel.
A schedule shows a warning. Check that the channel still exists, isn't archived, and that Zaymo is still a member. Then use Send now to test it.
The Slack tab in the Share dialog says Slack isn't connected. Connect it from the Integrations page first. Email deliveries don't need Slack.
Zaymo isn't replying to a mention. Make sure you're mentioning it in a channel it belongs to, and that you're using an @mention rather than a DM. If your brand has already asked 30 questions this hour, wait for the cap to reset.
